Reel Pieces with Annette Insdorf: John Tuturro

Moderator Annette Insdorf interviews actor-writer-director John Turturro after a preview of his film, Fading Gigolo, in which he stars alongside Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, Vanessa Paradis, Liev Schreiber, Bob Balaban and Sofia Vergara. As Variety wrote, "John Turturro brings sensitivity and intelligence to a subject that could have gone terribly awry in Fading Gigolo. Featuring a welcome performance by Woody Allen as the world’s unlikeliest procurer, and a wonderfully sensual turn by Turturro as an equally surprising lover, this wryly observant dramedy recognizes (and respects) the erogenous appeal of cinema ..." Brief Bios As an actor, John Turturro is best known for Barton Fink, The Quiz Show, Do the Right Thing, Miller's Crossing and The Truce (playing Primo Levi). His other films as a director are Mac, Illuminata, Romance and Cigarettes and Passione, a documentary about the music of Naples. Annette Insdorf is Director of Undergraduate Film Studies at Columbia University, and the author of books including Francois Truffaut; Double Lives, Second Chances: The Cinema of Krzysztof Kieslowski; Philip Kaufman; and Indelible Shadows: Film and the Holocaust. http://www.92y.org/tickets/production.aspx?pid=102214
