NYC Hotel Reviews for Hotel Wales

“Probably the best beds in NYC; hated to get up.”

Very roomy, two-beds suite with the best mattresses in NYC. Real percale sheets and pillow cases made it hard to get out each day. Great, 100% cotton towels and superior toiletries. Front desk personnel were more than just "friendly", recognizing my friend and me each time in-n-out. Personnel were "johnny-on-the-spot" with services requested. Having a porter/doorman available helped tremendously when needed. Large, pleasant room for 24/7 coffee with daily newspapers. Handy business center with free plane boarding pass print-out available. Good wifi. Only "trouble" was no hot water in the evenings, but that issue was addressed when reported. Only improvement would have been small fridge and microwave in suite, but for the shared price, great deal.  - March 2015

“Good value”

Perfect for a family of six, (two adults, one senior & three kids) we booked the suite that sleeps six on top/10th floor. Didn't spend much time in the suite as there is so much to do in NYC but it was clean, quiet with comfortable beds. But you have to be willing to share one small (but pleasant) bathroom! Very pleasant suite with lots of windows/natural light- with awesome darkening shades! Staff very friendly and attentive without being overbearing in anyway- genuine. Used the valet parking, reasonable didn't charge extra for mini-van:) and allowed us to store our bags after checkout. We ate breakfast at Corner Cafe restaurant - a little pricey but heavenly, one morning, another we got breakfast sandwiches 'to go'at Sing's Deli on our way to the 96th subway station - clean, friendly, tiny place- fed six for $20!  Walk to the MET, Central Park, subway - nice location. Would go again!  - February 2015

“Hidden Gem”

I just spent 5 days here and was extremely glad an accident of location (had to work nearby) brought me to this boutique hotel. I've stayed in hotels from 3 stars to 5 in New York and I've lived in New York and somehow this gem escaped me. This is one of the city’s best kept secrets: a hotel with genuine charm (it might be in Paris), lovely rooms and great location, and that happens to be reasonably priced (even more so for stays over 4 days). If you need Four Seasons “luxury” and amenities, this may not be for you. This is more New York, 1940s, and if you want a roomy, comfortable suite overlooking Madison Avenue this is the place. (Get the suite, the higher the floor the better; the extra 15% is worth it.) They do so many things right: a great bed, Belgian linens, and even over Madison Avenue it’s quiet enough for a light sleeper. Need dinner? Walk out the door (Vico, Le Paris, Paola’s, Sarabeth’s). I doubt I’ll stay anywhere else in New York if The Wales is waiting. - February 2015

“Felt at Home”

Spent 18 days at Hotel Wales in January 2015 while my wife had surgery at Mt. Sinai. The staff made me feel at home and asked daily when I returned from hospital about my wife's condition. Special thanks to Rosalyn, Patrick, Catherine, Kahn, and Cindy for making what could have been a rather lonely time while my wife was hospitalized as pleasant as possible. I would definitely consider the Hotel Wales for any future visits to NYC. - January 2015

“Old school hotel”

I really enjoyed my stay in this boutique hotel. My room had windows on three sides and even though it was cold outside, the radiator kept the room nice and cozy. The bathroom was big by NYC standards with new fixtures. It was also the cleanest hotel bathroom I've been in recently! Some tips: free endless coffee/tea/hot cocoa on the second floor is great before you head out into the cold. Prepayment worked well and I got 15% off the lowest rates. - January 2015
