NYC Hotel Reviews for Hotel Wales

"The 'go to' hotel on NYC's Upper East Side”

When visiting NYC, we continue to choose the Hotel Wales for its reliability. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is always professional, friendly, caring - a real asset for this charming boutique hotel on the Upper East Side. We will return again.

“Great Care”

We had to stay at the Hotel during a medical stay at Mt. Sinai. The staff was fantastic, caring, professional and extremely helpful. Lorraine at the front desk was amazing, she did everything to make this difficult stay easier for me and my friend who had just undergone surgery. She gets a 10 star rating! Hotel is centrally located. I will stay there again. Thank you Lorraine and all the staff.

“Great little hotel; great staff, great beds!”

This is a go-to hotel. Very near Mt. Sinai and walking distance to Guggenheim and Met.
Rooms can be tiny but adequate with good showers and very comfy beds. Suites are spacious and retain old woodwork and fireplaces (not working but pretty). Staff is accommodating and get to know their regulars. It is very quiet, even the rooms that front Madison Ave. they get room service from Sarabeths East, a respectable restaurant chain. Fun rooftop terrace that looks out on the park; quiet mezzanine with hot coffee and tea and places to work quietly.
Sarabeths restaurant shares the building and has an entrance within the hotel; serves all three meals. Breakfast is good. Island, on the other side of the hotel but a separate entrance seems to have a devoted local following; really good grilled fish and vegetables. Very nice service. They will bring food to your room if you call d. own to them. Pascalou on the other side of the street is better to have delivered; restaurant is really crowded and stays kind of noisy.
They have shower caps among their toiletries; there are four restaurants on the block and a good bodega two doors down. They have fresh fruit cut up and make great egg sandwiches in the morning and ham and cheese and various deli sandwiches all day.
It's more than safe to walk around at night.
There isn’t much on the UES; this one is a gem. If they are booked, try the Franklin; a strong second place finisher.

“Always Return Here”

We enjoy the quiet dignity of the Upper East Side of Manhattan. We love the neighborhood and prefer to stay in this part of NYC.
The Hotel Wales is charming and we have always had a good experience.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are older but the linens are nice and the beds are comfortable.
The Sarabeth's Kitchen on the first floor is a terrific place to grab a coffee and muffin or to sit down for a meal.

I liked this place a lot. A gem in the big city. I was here one night. Great bed and check out the great juice bar opposite. Fabulous location. Staff friendly and lots to do around the hotel. Has a old word charm.
